The latest author spotlight featuring

Spencer Adika

Different is unique. Different is diversity. We all have different qualities, opinions, perspectives, perceptions and ways of doing things as humans. This means, although we are humans, we are very different from each other. In order to spice up and grow our lives we need to: involve, tolerate and embrace whatever one does in a positive outlook. This book covers some areas which have been taken lightly but affects our lives greatly. "Creativity is expressing out your real you." - Spencer Adika

Another author spotlight featuring

Cendrine Marrouat

Poetry is an evolutional process, a reflection of the human mind. Every person goes through life and changes on a regular basis. That is exactly what Five Years and Counting is about. Cendrine Marrouat, the author, has regrouped five years of poetry and arranged her pieces according to life's most important stages: birth, teenage years, adulthood, and elevation. This last stage represents man's understanding and realization of the ultimate fulfillment in life.

The latest author spotlight featuring

Heidi Light

Heidi Light, a family counselor and certified hypnotherapist, asserts that we are in desperate need of guidance and standards so that we can approach the world of intuition, energy, and mysticism from a healthy and respectful place. Drawing  from  her  more  than  forty  years  as  a  medical  intuitive, empath,  and energy tracker—as well as twenty years as a counselor in private, clinical, and institutional settings—Light offers practical, simple solutions to the alarming lack of boundaries in the fields of intuition and energy medicine. From massage therapists who just throw in a little extra energy work, to psychics who read your sister instead of you, or to practitioners who tell you to take off your clothes, Light  shares  case  studies  and  vignettes  of  ethical  boundaries  mistakenly  being  crossed. This book explains  the  traditional  psychological  model  of  ethics that counselors and psychologists are taught and outlines an ethical energetics model as a framework for moving through the process of accessing intuitive information  and  working  with  energy. Experienced energy workers, those new to the field and just opening to their intuition, and those who come to them for services need to know these ethical guidelines of boundaries and consent.

Another author spotlight featuring

Matt Whiteside

Review From onlinebookclub.org
What would you do if you suddenly discovered you are wanted by ancient intergalactic beings and that you have nearly unlimited powers? This is exactly the question Trent must answer in Trent Foster and the Council of 10 by Matt Whiteside. Lately, Trent has been depressed. His life feels empty, and his job as a personal trainer just isn’t fulfilling anymore. Everything changes, though, when Trent’s apartment is blown up and Trent is kidnapped.
Rainjier is a Sentinel, a being with magnificent abilities tasked with keeping the galaxy safe. When the Council (ten beings who give the Sentinels their assignments) start gunning for Trent, Rainjier knows something’s wrong. Trent has no history of violence and can’t possibly be a threat to the galaxy. He rushes to Earth and gets Trent before the real bad guys can. Along with Trent’s dog and co-worker, Trent and Rainjier must figure out why the Council wants Trent, as well as what Trent’s powers are, before the other Sentinels catch them.
This book contains a fantastic adventure. From the first explosion, the action takes off running. Once Trent comes into his powers, things get even more interesting, as his abilities seem almost limitless. This could have had the effect of making Trent overcome everything too easily, but the author did a great job of keeping the threat real.
Speaking of the threat, the Sentinels were my favorite part of this book. There were several from different planets. Their various appearances added a nice touch. For example, a giant Sentinel captures Trent’s friend Ferra. At one point aboard the Sentinel’s ship, Ferra has to use the facilities, which are appropriately sized for her captor. The result was quite humorous. The array of powers was fascinating, too. One Sentinel could create stunningly realistic visual and auditory illusions. Another has abilities similar to the sirens of Greek myth, and it turns out she’s descended from them.
There are quite a few instances of adult language and thoughts in this book, which means I recommend it only for readers aged eighteen and up. Fans of superhero fiction or science fiction adventure stories might enjoy this book. If it bothers you, beware the cynicism. Otherwise, hop aboard a ship and join Trent on a journey into the unknown.

Michael Gallagher

Gooseberry: Octavius Guy and the Case of the Thieving Maharajah (Send for Octavius Guy Book 1)

1852. With the business of the Moonstone diamond finally laid to rest, Mr Franklin Blake and his wife Rachel are now happily married, living in London, and blessed with a healthy baby daughter named Julia. Mr Blake has taken his late father’s seat in Parliament, and his party’s fortunes are on the rise—in fact they are about to overthrow the coalition government of the day.

But then the inexplicable occurs. Miss Rachel and her elderly aunt are attacked in the street by a gang of feral children, whose only purpose, it seems, is to plant a photographic portrait of a young, rich Indian lad in the old lady’s handbag.

Enter the Blakes’ lawyer’s office boy, Octavius Guy—better known as Gooseberry—who once helped the family bring the mystery of the Moonstone to a close. Join Gooseberry, the fourteen-year-old boy detective, as he and his ragtag bunch of friends descend into London’s Victorian demi-monde and underworld to ferret out the truth, while spending as much as they can of his employer’s money along the way!

 SPFBO 2018 Promo

All books 99 cents  (Some including my Witch Spelling will also be 99p (UK).

From Nov. 15 - Nov. 19

The promo page link... SPFBO 2018 Promo

If you're still not sure what SPFBO is, there are more posts below with info on this great annual competition.

It runs for several months, has a max of 300 self-published books & at the end, there can be only 1 winner.

Being the outright winner is not the main aim of entering for most authors, as the benefits of entering are far-reaching in terms of 'meeting' other authors, getting exposure for our work & having readers buy & possibly review not only the book entered but also other books in our own catalogue.

If you're interested in buying my Witch Spelling, it's at the bottom of the promo page so here's a link to make it easier...

Witch Spelling

There are some amazing books in this competition, some I've read, some are already purchased, sitting on my computer waiting to be read & others are in my TBR (to be read) list.

I keep discovering new gems as the competition bloggers review books from their pile, so I'm guessing my TBR list will continue to grow for some time yet.

Nervously waiting for my blogger judge to review mine, I do hope she likes it. :)

Monday, 12 November 2018

I decided to reduce the price early on my 4 books that will be in multi-author promos soon.
It can take up to 3 days for Amazon to approve the change but it only took them a couple of hours this time, so the following books are now 99c/99p (other countries are based on these prices)...

In the SPFBO4 promo
Witch Spelling

In the Cheap Quickies promo
Murder Melange

Trio

Life Returns

Cheap Quickies: Short Story Collections 99c/99p ebook sale

Sounds good so far except...

Amazon are having huge problems so I don't know how many people will be able to find & buy books in the promos.

The following link goes to an explanation by David Gaughran,
who seems to know an awful lot about everything relating to books and self-publishing. :)
A very trusted voice when it comes to advice & info regarding all things writery :)

amazon-kdp-books-unavailable-international-readers

I can only hope that Amazon fixes this soon or the promos will be a waste of time & effort & book buying will be affected even without promos.

I've added the .co.uk link to my promo books as I'm in the UK & can't see my books on the US (.com) site, they are missing to me but I don't know if they show up to people who buy from that site.
If you want to buy any of these books, following the UK link should (usually when there are no problems) have directions to go to the site for your own country.

I'll add actual promo info, banners, links etc as soon as the promo hosts have given them out.

If you do buy any of my books, my biggest hope is that you enjoy them, if you do enjoy them, authors do love good reviews & I only have 1 review out of all the books I've sold. Hint, hint :)

If you like my books & do give a nice review, let me just say, I love you. ๐Ÿ’–

Coming soon...

Black Friday promos...

Watch this space, actually watch for spaces above this, scrap that, they won't be spaces as they'll contain promo info :)

4 of my books will be included in 2 promos, a bunch of authors, well, 2 bunches of authors are banding together to reduce our books to 99c (mine will also be 99p but I'm not sure if all of the others will be).
A lot of these authors will probably be in both promos.

I'm waiting for the promo hosts to post the banners/info/dates etc but when I have them, I'll post them here, on Twitter & on Facebook.

We're a friendly lot & we don't see each other as competition, we're all in this together, promoting the promos wherever we can in the hopes that...
a) we sell more books
b) we may be discovered by new readers who might like our cheapie books & go on to read more of our work
c) we sell more books
d) we might possibly get some good reviews from our readers
e) we sell more books
f) I think there's an echo in here but you might get the idea that this is mostly about selling more books. ๐Ÿ˜‰

 The end of Kboards

For the last few days, I've been editing & removing over 900 of my posts in Kboards Writer's Cafe.
A place (forum) I've recommended to other new & not so new authors from other forums over the last year or so, I loved that place, I've learnt so much there about so much to do with self-publishing, interacted with so many lovely authors from around the globe (sorry flat-earthers) & my books have improved so much regarding formatting thanks to the lovely community & its members.

I've been directed to so much help with making my own book covers & all things writerly, I've found & been involved with book promos, I've had laughs, lots of laughs, interesting discussions & just generally really felt like a part of the community & everything that goes along with that.

The end is near & I'm sad to see what it has become since being bought out by VerticalScope.
VerticalScope slipped in a new (hidden) TOS (terms of service).
The fact that it was hidden meant that none of us agreed to it, we wouldn't even know about it now if an eagle-eyed forum member hadn't found it & alerted the rest of us to it.

The resulting discussion has been going on for days with most of us wanting to leave but guess what? We're not allowed to, go figure!
We've been instructed to email VerticalScope in order to request an exit & our data to be purged, which I did 2 days ago.
With 1000s wanting to leave at once & VerticalScope not wanting that to happen, there's no telling how long it will take to actually leave.

This post is aimed at warning other authors thinking of joining there that you will be signing away your rights to everything, your name, your profile pic, your content, possibly even your privately held data.
I can't speak for the accuracy of this bit but people are reporting more email spam (since the forum was sold) than ever before with an email address that's only used for that forum.
These people believe that their details are being sold.

I asked on the forum if anybody had a blog post that I could copy/paste onto my page as I didn't think I could explain everything without leaving out any important info.

Julie pointed me to the following from her blog & it makes for very interesting reading if you're an author...

Tales From the Sith Witch  (Julie's blog).

Thank you Julie. ๐Ÿ’–

Julie has also added a timeline of events that are important & that may be added to as more nefarious dealings present themselves.

I've joined a new forum that's being set up by another Kboards member & a lot of my fellow authors are migrating there, so all is not lost but it's a sad day/week for Kboards & everyone that made it the place it was.
It will never be the same again.

Apparently, (from people doing Google searches) VerticalScope have a habit of buying out successful forums, running them into the ground but adding so many adverts that get them a far-reaching revenue as people still find the dead-ish forum from searches etc.

Kboards, you'll be missed by so many.

Here's the latest author spotlight featuring

Amanda LeMay

Jules Havarr is a Breeder. For her, it’s a problem. Smaller than other wolves, she grew up feeling inferior to her pack mates. It didn’t help that males tended to avoid her, or looked down on her as though she were unworthy of attention. When a visiting Breeder extends an invitation to breed, Jules accepts his offer, even though it means leaving her home, friends, family, and pack behind.

Breeding at the Moon Dance is an honor she can’t refuse.

That is, until the moment she meets Sorin Campion, and a rare and ancient bond binds them together. She knows it in her heart, feels it deep in her soul. This male is her sakana, and she's all in.

The only problem? The Breeder whose invitation she recently accepted is Sorin’s twin brother.

Sorin is a dead wolf walking. He's suffered tragedy and heartbreak that left a lasting reminder of all he’s lost burned into his flesh. He’s lived the past few decades barely existing.

Can the sakana bond he shares with Jules awaken him from his misery, and bring purpose and hope back into his lonely life?

While exploring their love for one another, Sorin and Jules are tested by a dangerous ongoing threat to their pack. A dark and vengeful enemy may tear them, and their new found happiness, apart.

Another guest spot featuring 3 books by

Phil Parker

Robin Goodfellow to those he knows. Puck to those he’ll kill. He’s lived among humans for centuries, they think he’s a demon. The teenagers he’s forced to protect, despise him. This exiled warrior, traitor to the Fae and victim of persecution because of his sexuality, has turned into a lonely and unforgiving bastard. The ideal scapegoat when someone special needs killing.

◆◆◆

Robin Goodfellow is a murderer, a king-killer. The war with the Fae may have ended, but as humanity slowly recovers, any gratitude they owed him quickly faded. The army has taken control and anyone with Fae blood in their veins is viewed with suspicion. Especially when it turns out at least one portal to Tir na nร“g still exists and assassins are using it to attack Robin. He needs to locate it so he can find out who wants him dead.
Meanwhile Robin isn’t the only one trying to stay alive. As Keir awaits his coronation as High Lord of the Dark Court, someone is intent on killing him too. It might have been a tough life as a servant but it’s preferable to getting a knife in your back.
In the Light Court, Filidea does all she can to bring the evil Lord Taranis to justice for rape. What she doesn’t know is his villainy goes even further. Her actions will place her in great danger. But she’s not the only one to suffer at Taranis’ hands. He has a history with Robin too.

◆◆◆

Everything has gone wrong. Imprisoned by the army as a spy, Robin is powerless to stop their genocidal plans for the Fae race. Besides, even if he escaped, how could he resolve this ancient feud? There’s too much at stake and, for some, it offers a way to achieve great power and influence. What’s worse, Tir na nร“g is about to explode into civil war.
You can guarantee that when that happens Robin and his allies will be in the thick of it. But a message from beyond the grave provides a possible solution. Except no one knows where to find it, or even if it still exists. Without it, a lot of people are going to die. As the war between the two races reaches its climax, can the lies and treachery of the past be discovered in time?

4th Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (SPFBO4)

Witch Spelling

The 99c/99p promo has come to an end (in most, if not all countries). There may still be a some books at the reduced price for a while longer as not all were scheduled time-slots, some were manually reduced & need to be manually reset.

I'm waiting until tonight (UK time) to reset my price back to normal & then it will depend on Amazon how long it actually takes for the price change to kick in, so, you can still pick up a bargain or 2 from the promo if you missed the earlier posts that have swept across FB, Twitter, YouTube etc over the last 5 days or more. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The promo has been good & my book ranking for Witch Spelling has looked very pretty a few times, quite surprising really considering how many super-duper books were not only in the promo but also in the competition.

The competition itself carries on with the participating bloggers choosing & reviewing their favourites out of their alotted pile over the next few months. (More info in earlier posts below).

Good luck to all in the competition, there can be only 1 winner every year but for the rest of us, we can only hope for a good review from our judge on their own blog & for the extra eyes on our books that will be made possible from that.
My own judge has already said that parts, or all of the review can be used for promotional purposes, so fingers crossed that she likes Witch Spelling ๐Ÿคž

A big thanks to my buyers, I hope you enjoy my book/s.

My next book should be ready by mid-December (hopefully), it would make a good present for everyone you know (non-fiction) not only for Christmas but birthdays too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (Paperback only).
I'd like to make it earlier than that but it will depend on how life goes outside of writing, formatting, editing, cover creation etc.
There's also a Munich beer festival to fit in before that so a couple of weeks in the Czech Republic is scheduled to take in Oktoberfest. ๐Ÿบ ๐Ÿ˜Š

SPFBO4

The SPFBO4 competition (in earlier posts) has enabled me to be part of a huge group of my fellow authors, all trying our best to be seen & to help others get noticed in the fantasy reader's world.

I've 'met' some really nice people, some from far, far away, all with the same goal (to sell our books & be discovered) & it's been a lot of fun interacting with them in writer's forums.

Most of the authors participating in the 99c/99p promo are reporting sales & I'm happy to be one of them.
The royalty is minimal for each book (around 35c/26p depending on exchange rate at the time) & we joke about selling enough books to buy a coffee (some can even buy a pizza) but it's not all about that lowly sale that we're so grateful for, it's so much more than that.

Most of us have lots more books that could be discovered if a reader likes our way of writing or is interested in looking us up after reading the discounted book. Follow-through is a big plus when it happens. Some readers will go on to buy the next titles in the series (where available) but for authors like myself who only have standalones, a reader could find something else they like in another genre.

Maybe you're interested in the Tarot & want to learn more about it as a beginner, or you like murder fiction short stories.
Maybe a stalking serial killer novel is more your thing or a ghost novel. A mini collection of 3 reincarnation short stories or how about a dragon book for your little one or as a present for someone else's child? There are 2 poetry books & other general fiction short stories in my backlist, something for everyone.
Most of these are available in paperback & some also have large print editions. Only the 3 shortest stories are 'eBook only' but they have been published together (Trio) to make the page count enough for a paperback.

There are lots of earlier posts & videos in this blog & on My Facebook page if you're interested enough to check them out.

If you've bought any of my books (or are going to) or have shared any of my FB, Twitter or YouTube posts, then thank you.
(All can be found by searching for A. Woodley at the relevant platform).

Thank you for popping in & for reading this ^^^ (if you did) ๐Ÿ˜Š
